What Types Of Medical Care Are Proviced In Assisted Living Facilities?
-
Assisted living facilities are intended for seniors who maintain good health, mind and body. Therefore, they do not provide medical care on-site. They can’t administer medications to any resident. They may provide reminders to the resident that it is time to take their medications. Administering the medications requires skilled nurses, which assisted living facilities do not provide. Transportation to doctors may be provided.
Individual residents can hire a Licensed Personal Nurse(LPN) to come to their unit and provide on-site medical services. This is similar type of care you or your loved one would receive at home. If a lot of medical care is needed on a continuous basis, then an Assisted Living Facility may not be the right fit.
