About LAKESIDE

  • Lakeside has two lakes in its city limits: Lindo Lake and Lake Jennings, both of which offer walking trails. Lake Jennings also offers boating and fishing. Lakeside is mostly known as a cowboy town with numerous ranches, horses, and rodeos. The Lakeside Rodeo Grounds is a 8 acre facility run exclusively by volunteers. The proceeds to the events goes directly back to educational grants, sports and programs geared towards the youth of the town.

Lakeside is 7.3 square miles with a population of just over 20,000. The weather is warm all year long with highs ranging from the 70’s to 90’s and lows from 40’s to 60’s. Rainfall in Lakeside per year is about 4 inches.

The Lakeside Community Center sits right beside Lindo Lake offering amazing views. The center has programs and activities for all ages as well as specific ones for seniors. Those activities include: Adult Trips, Fitness and Running, Martial Arts and Self Defense, Dance Classes, Senior Nutrition Program, Tennis, and Guitar. Here is the website: http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/parks/centers/lakeside.html The center is right next door to the library and less than a half a mile from the Post Office.

Lakeside is a great place to live with a rural setting with a home feeling. It has shops, restaurants and is near two main highways. It is easy to build a sense of community here.
